DUROLANE is a non-animal, high-molecular weight, stabilized hyaluronic acid. It is stabilized using a carefully controlled cross-linking process that increases the intra-articular residence time.1,26,29

The process of lightly cross-linking hyaluronic acid molecules in DUROLANE (0.5%-1%) changes the physical properties of the hyaluronic acid, forming a three-dimensional gel.1,30

This unique technology allows for a half-life of 4 weeks or 32 days in the joint, following a single-injection.26,29

DUROLANE has a longer half-life than unstabilized hyaluronic acid or cross-linked Synvisc® (hylan G-F 20). 31,32

The most common side effects of DUROLANE treatment in hip and knee studies were described as transient pain, stiffness and/or swelling localised to the joint. These adverse events were mild or moderate in intensity.33

DUROLANE is safe for repeated courses of therapy. Studies investigating repeated treatment 6 months following the initial injection did not cause an increased rate of adverse events.33

Summary of Indications for Use

DUROLANE (3 mL): Argentina, Australia,* Brazil, Chile, Colombia, EU,* India, New Zealand,* Russia, Switzerland,* Turkey,* United Arab Emirates: Symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate knee or hip osteoarthritis. In addition, DUROLANE has been approved in Australia, EU and New Zealand for the symptomatic treatment associated with mild to moderate osteoarthritis pain in the ankle, shoulder, elbow, wrist, fingers, and toes.

Mexico: Symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis.

Taiwan: Treatment of pain in OA of the knee in patients who have failed to respond adequately to conservative non-pharmacologic therapy and simple analgesics, e.g., acetaminophen. In addition, DUROLANE has been licensed for the symptomatic treatment associated with mild to moderate osteoarthritis pain in the ankle, fingers and toes.

*DUROLANE is also indicated for pain following joint arthroscopy in the presence of osteoarthritis within 3 months of the procedure.

Summary of Indications for Use for Curavisc: Curavisc (2 mL): EU, Brazil, Egypt, Malaysia: Pain and disturbed function in degenerative and traumatic disease of the joints. Curavisc can be used for large joints, e.g., knee, hip, or shoulder joint. Treatment course of 3- injections, up to 5- injections.
